Bio

Himadri Saini is a Research Fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for 21st Century Weather and is based at the University of Melbourne. Her research focuses on tropical climate variability, combining observational analyses and climate model simulations to investigate weather–climate interactions in tropical Australia and assess future climate risks. She completed her PhD in Climate Science at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in 2023, where she used Earth system models to investigate past climate dynamics, with a particular focus on ocean biogeochemistry and the global carbon cycle during past climate states. During her postdoctoral research at UNSW, she examined how changes in ice sheets and large-scale ocean circulation influenced regional climate and rainfall patterns, especially across Australia. She currently serves as a South-west Pacific Regional Representative for the Young Earth System Scientists (YESS) community and Past Global Changes (PAGES).
