Aerial view of a patchwork of green and brown agricultural fields with numerous white wind turbines spread across the landscape. Large, fluffy clouds partially obscure sections of the scene, creating a dramatic contrast between the land and sky. The turbines are evenly spaced, indicating a wind farm integrated into farmland.

When: Monday 15 June to Friday 19 June, 2026

Where: School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Melbourne.

What: Powering the Weather

In this Graduate Colloquium, participants will work directly with 21st Century Weather’s energy partners. The Colloquium will follow a hackathon-style format, bringing students together to collaboratively tackle science questions at the intersection of weather and energy. Participants will develop and share insights with their peers and with the key stakeholders who depend on weather and climate research to inform real-world energy decisions.

About the Graduate Colloquium

The Graduate Colloquium is a cornerstone of 21st Century Weather’s Training & Leadership Program. We want graduate students to gain highly specialised knowledge in their own area of research, as well as a broad understanding of the wider discipline. The Graduate Colloquium provides this opportunity. The theme changes each year, and shifts from broader, widely relevant topics to more tightly focused subjects requiring prerequisite knowledge.

Apply to attend

All Centre members are encouraged to participate in the Graduate Colloquium. However, places are limited, and priority will be given to students and Research Fellows.

To express your interest in attending, please complete this form.
