Bio

Dr. Amelie Meyer is a physical oceanographer and climate scientist at the University of Tasmania, where she completed her PhD in 2014. Currently an ARC DECRA Fellow, her research focuses on the interactions between sea ice and the ocean in the Southern Ocean and Arctic, aiming to better understand the drivers behind declining sea ice trends. She also investigates ocean fronts, their role in the climate system, and how they have changed over recent decades. Her work has taken her to some of the most remote regions on the planet, spending over 180 days conducting research at sea aboard scientific vessels and on sea ice.
