Bio

I am Linyuan Sun, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for 21st Century Weather, based at the Climate Change Research Centre (CCRC), UNSW Sydney. I received my PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from Nanjing University, China. My research focuses on climate variability and dynamics, with particular interest in El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) teleconnections, large-scale air-sea interactions, and atmospheric low-frequency variability. I am also interested in the troposphere–stratosphere coupling and its surface climate impacts. Within the Centre, my work focuses on tropical coupled air-sea modes and their influences on Australia’s seasonal climate variability and synoptic weather systems (e.g., extratropical cyclones and atmospheric blockings), in both the present climate and under future change scenarios, aiming to advance understanding of climate drivers and their roles in shaping regional climate and extreme events in Australia.
