Bio

Dr. Elisabeth Vogel researches the impacts of hydro-climate extremes on agricultural production and food trade networks. She is particularly interested in the effects of compound climate extremes, such as simultaneous heatwaves or droughts across major breadbasket regions, and their effects on food-importing countries. Elisabeth is a McKenzie Fellow in the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Melbourne and an Associated Investigator with W21C. Before joining the University of Melbourne, Elisabeth worked in various roles across academia, government and international organisations, including with the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, the University of New South Wales and the UN Environmental Program. Elisabeth holds a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Melbourne and an M.Sc. in Environmental Science and Technology from the Technical University of Berlin.
